Deflashing Services for Molded Rubber and Plastic Parts

If you want to improve part quality and reduce flash defects our processes will prove advantageous to you. Nitrofreeze offers manufacturers and injection molders batch deflashing services for molded plastic and rubber parts. Our deflashing services provide consistent, repeatable and cost-effective results.

Who uses Cryogenic Deflashing?

Nitrofreeze provides cryogenic deflashing services to molders and OEM manufacturers that make injection molded, extrusion molded and compression molded parts.

What Materials can be Deflashed?

Most rubbers, plastics, and composites have been successfully deflashed with cryogenic deflashing.

Common candidates include silicone rubber, FKM, EPDM, neoprene, LSR, fluorosilicones, ABS plastic, PEEK, Delrin and other acetals, nylon, PPS, HD/PEs, PEIs including Ultem, Vespel, polypropylene, zinc, and polycarbonate.

How do we Deflash the Parts?

We provide multiple methods for deflashing plastic molded parts. The location and intensity of the residual mold flash will determine which process is the most suitable.

Our Cryogenic Deflashing process utilizes gaseous nitrogen as a cryogen to freeze the parts while they are tumbled and blasted with plastic media. This cryogenic deflashing process is able to remove mold flash from difficult to reach areas including cross-holes, blind holes and other difficult geometries.

The Cryogenic Tumble Deflashing process is suitable for removing external mold flash through cryogenic freezing and tumbling. This process removes mold flash from parts by having them tumble against one another in a cryogenic environment.

In addition, our Dry Ice Deflashing process allows mold flash to be removed from difficult geometries such as internal holes, cross-holes, blind holes, small slots and crevices. The process utilizes high pressure air to blast dry ice media at the areas requiring deflashing.
