Pre-Production Engineering Evaluation

How We Do It

The Five R’s: Receipt, Recipe, Run, Refinement, Repeat

Where decades of cryogenic expertise meet rigorous process discipline to deliver consistent, production-ready results — every time.

We Prove the Process Before You Ever Get a Quote

Every part we process begins with a no-charge Pre-Production Engineering Evaluation. Before a single production batch is quoted, we build a part-specific recipe, run your samples, refine until the result matches your standard, and then validate that it repeats.

The same five stages govern cryogenic deflashing and cryogenic deburring. One outcome: a documented, archived, repeatable process and zero surprises on your first production order.

ISO-controlled documentation and traceability for cryogenic deflashing sample receipt

Receipt Where Precision Begins

Every successful evaluation starts with complete understanding. We treat sample receipt as the critical first step in building a reliable, repeatable process.

  • Immediate secure intake and logging of all samples at our controlled Worcester, MA facility.
  • Structured customer interview capturing material specifications, geometric challenges, areas of concern, inspection requirements and exact production volumes.
  • Comprehensive review of engineering drawings, customer-provided photographs, and — most importantly — your QA-approved reference samples.
  • Early flagging of potential processing considerations using our proprietary historical database of similar parts and materials.
  • Full documentation and traceability established before any processing begins, eliminating ambiguity for production runs.

II

Recipe Science-Backed Customization

We don’t guess. Every recipe is engineered from decades of empirical data in our industry-leading Standards of Cryogenic Finishing database.

  • Formulation of a unique, part-specific process recipe drawn from the most comprehensive cryogenic deburring database in the industry.
  • Precise calibration of temperature (typically 0°F to −200°F), programmable tumble rates, cryogenic media type and size (0.006″–0.060″), and throw wheel dynamics.
  • Optimized specifically for your material properties and part geometry to maximize burr removal while protecting critical surfaces and tight tolerances.
  • Every validated recipe receives a permanent unique identifier and is archived for 100% repeatable results on future orders.
  • Our starting point is already highly effective — built on continuous refinement from thousands of successful evaluations across industries.

Run Precision Execution in Action

This is where expertise meets equipment. Our controlled process delivers consistent results through precise automation and operator oversight.

  • Parts are loaded into baskets and placed in our insulated processing chambers under strict handling protocols.
  • Automated gaseous nitrogen cooling achieves and holds the exact target temperature with precise environmental control.
  • Programmable throw wheel and tumble rates combined with calibrated cryogenic-grade media blasting produce uniform, high-quality finishing results.
  • Custom-engineered fixtures and work holders are designed and deployed whenever part geometry requires specialized orientation or protection.
  • Real-time monitoring and strict adherence to the validated recipe parameters throughout the entire cycle ensure process integrity.

IV

Refinement Commitment to Zero Defects

We don’t stop at “good enough.” Our iterative refinement process continues until results meet or exceed your exacting standards.

  • Post-process inspection performed by experienced technicians against your golden samples and supplied reference photographs.
  • Any deviation from expected results immediately triggers recipe adjustment and re-processing — we refine until the cryogenic deflashing or deburring result is right.
  • Every adjustment is fully documented; the final optimized recipe is permanently entered into our database for future production.
  • This rigorous loop protects your production timeline by proving the process works before we ever issue a quotation.
  • Our objective is simple: zero surprises when your first production batch arrives.

Repeat Validated for Production Scale

Validation is the final gate. We confirm repeatability so you can scale with confidence.

  • Additional virgin samples are processed using the fully locked, validated recipe to prove consistency and repeatability under production conditions.
  • Comprehensive final inspection with high-resolution digital photographs and detailed documentation provided for your immediate review and approval.
  • Parts are carefully packaged and returned to you.
  • A formal quotation is issued after your review and approval of the samples.
  • Should any future production order ever require re-processing or adjustment, it is performed at no additional charge — our commitment to our partnership.
  • You receive a proven, documented, and archived process ready for seamless, low-risk scale-up to full production volumes.

Cryogenic Evaluation FAQ

There is no charge for the evaluation. You send samples; we run the full Five R’s process and issue a formal quotation only after you have reviewed and approved the finished parts.

Send QA-approved reference samples along with material specifications, engineering drawings or photographs, your inspection requirements, and your expected production volumes. The more detail you provide, the faster we can lock in the right recipe.

Most evaluations are completed within 5–10 business days, depending on part complexity and the number of refinement cycles required. Expedited handling is available — just tell us your timeline.

Your validated recipe is archived under a permanent unique identifier, so every future order runs to the exact same parameters. If a production order ever requires re-processing or adjustment, it is performed at no additional charge.
